Postpartum Support

St. Joseph's Women's Hospital offers two support groups for new moms: Perinatal Depression and Coping with Motherhood

Postpartum Support TampaPerinatal Depression: If you are experiencing postpartum feelings, you are not alone. There is help.

St. Joseph's Women's Hospital offers a support group to women who may be experiencing postpartum depression or other perinatal mood disorders associated with pregnancy and/or birth. Symptoms may include lack of energy, feelings of shame or guilt, sadness and crying, difficulty concentrating and/or the inability to bond with your baby. Please know that it is ok to experience these feelings. You are not a bad mother...there is hope.

Our goal is to provide education on postpartum depression and other mood symptoms, help you realize that what you are going through is normal and provide an environment that will allow you to find support and comfort through your peers.

When and Where:
Please come to any session. This is an open group; you are welcome at any time and there is no cost to attend. Call (813) 872-3925 for more information. Classes are held the fourth Tuesday of every month from 7-8:30pm at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital Pavilion, 4th floor classrooms of the medical office building. Park in the parking garage and take the elevator to the 4th floor.

Coping with Motherhood: Life after childbirth
Whether you are a first time mom or experienced with a growing family, this support group is designed for women who are adjusting to motherhood. The Coping with Motherhood group provides a supportive environment for women and offers the opportunity to share with and support other women who are challenged by everyday life stressors, adjusting to new roles and transitions, experiencing emotional changes and/or having challenges with breastfeeding. This group is led by a certified lactation specialist who can assist with breastfeeding questions and a hospital social worker.

These sessions are open to all postpartum women who delivered up to one year ago. No reservation is required. Expect to learn a lot, be social and have a great discussion. Refreshments will be provided and babies are welcome, but feel free to take a day off and come without them.

When and where:
The group meets the second Tuesday of every month from 1pm to 2:30pm in the St. Joseph's Women's Hospital Pavilion, 4th floor classrooms, 3030 W. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Tampa, FL 33607 Park in the parking garage and take the elevator to the 4th floor.
